Becoming a Bitcoin’er
When I turned 50 just months into the first Covid year, I started to think about my future retirement. Will be eligible to retire in 2029 with full government pension as it stands now (2024). Just 5 more years in active, full-time work, if I choose to do it. The only question will be money.
I need to do more research, but as I can see from the “Pension Pages” at nav.no you can’t start with pension payments before age of 62 years. This mean I will have to fund 3 years by own savings or work a few more years. I have never been a passionate saver, so I started with saving in a “Global Index Fund” back in 2020. A good chuck of my salary went into this fund every month. In late 2021 and early 2022 when Russia started their aggression against Ukraine, I started to buy monthly stocks in Norwegian companies like Oil Company Equinor and the military contractor Kongsberg Gruppen since I knew these stocks would benefit. And they did and made some gains until the summer when the stock price dumped for some reason. The winter of 2022 I started my bitcoin research and bought some Satoshi during this process. When my stocks dumped in the summer I got pissed and sold them all and bough bitcoin instead. I haven’t regretted one second on this discission.
That summer I decided to be Bitcoin’er and make the most of it.
